Fighting insurgency a collective responsibility – Chief Imam

Malam Muhammad Nafi’u, the Chief Imam, Nupe Road Central Mosque, Kaduna, on Friday, said that fighting the insurgents was a collective responsibility of all Nigerians. Nafi’u made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

 

The cleric said all Nigerians must support the government to bring an end to the killings and destruction perpetrated by the insurgents. “We must put our hands together to end these devilish and inhuman activities. “

Blame game is not a solution to the menace but we should forge ahead and give the security agencies maximum cooperation to end it,’’ he said. Nafi’u noted that combating insurgency was not a simple task, adding that it needed the cooperation of all as everyone was being affected by it.

 

“Boko Haram terrorists are not Muslims and are not practicing the true teaching of Islam, which preaches peace, love and development not killing of innocent people,’’ he said. The Cheif Iman commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to the fight against Boko Haram, saying, “If this will continue the issue of Boko Haram will be history. “President Buhari need our support and commitment in ending the menace; we should all give him total support in combating the terrorists.’’
