FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles down in fifth spot in July’s ranking

The Super Eagles have dropped from 38th to 39th in the latest world ranking released by FIFA Thursday, the Nigerian senior national team’s lowest since December 2023 when they were ranked 42nd best in the world.

This would be the third consecutive time the Super Eagles would drop in ranking after they were ranked 30th in April and 38th last month, four months after the team moved 14 places up in February after coming second behind Cote d’Ivoire at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, becoming the 28th best in the world to equal their best ranking since May 2013.

Following their disappointing performances in the two FIFA World Cup qualifying games against South Africa who they forced to a 1-1 draw in Uyo and Republic of Benin who they lost 2-1 to in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, the Eagles were destined to drop in ranking.
