FG urged to include NCE holders in 500,000 teacher’s recruitment

-

The National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students has called on federal government to as matter of urgency stop the outright discrimination against Nigeria Certificate in education (NCE) holders in the ongoing 500,000 teacher’s online recruitment.

The National President of the Association, Comrade Adediwura Adeshina who made this call yesterday in Abuja during a press conference, said that NCE holders are fully qualified to teach in primary and secondary education level in Nigeria.

According to him, the association would work assiduously to oppose the “N-Power Teacher Corps Programmes” which violates the principle of equity, fairness and lacks of sustainability in terms of fitting in to existing policy of the nation education.

“Although, we support the initiative of the federal government to engage unemployed youths but with a wrong approach by asking applicants especially on national Youth Service Corps numbers instead of teacher training point numbers.

“The recruitment have no capacity to teach because the applicants with Bsc and HND for the programme do not have teaching experience, we say that this will further deepen the crisis in the quality of education in Nigeria.”
