Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has said Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola can finally win the elusive UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophy at the club and “shut people up” this season.
Guardiola, who has won the trophy twice with Barcelona, has failed to repeat the feat since leaving the La Liga giant 12 years ago.
The highly successful Spanish manager has also faced criticism from fans and some football pundits over his approach to the competition at the knockout stages.
Most of Europe’s big hitters are in this season’s knockout stages of the competition with City, with holders Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain among the favourites.

Despite that, former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand believes the English Premier League champions can finally end their European hoodoo.
According to him, with free-scoring Erling Haaland now in their ranks, they should have the edge over other competitors.
“It’s just too difficult. I’m gonna go with City, just because of Haaland and Pep, he’s driven to win this.
“He’s been involved with the Premier League, but the Champions League is where it’s at for him. He’ll shut many people up if he does get it done,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
