Ferdinand Agu was a devil’s beater, Aka Ikenga mourns

By Jeffrey Agbo

Igbo think tank, Aka Ikenga, has expressed shock and sorrow over the demise of Ferdinand Agu, a committed member of the group and one of Ndigbo’s finest human resource ambassador.

Agu, a former Director General of the defunct National Maritime Authority (NMA), which is now the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), died on June 7 after suffering a heart attack.

“The bolting away of Architect Ferdie a day after a night of friendliness and liveliness, though a rude shock is typical of his routine simplicity to complicated matters. Arc Ferdinand literally chose to walk away and crossed over to eternity without ceremony.

“We are sad that we have lost a total asset, whose landscape of intellect is a totem of pride to Ndigbo, and who carved his signature wherever he served Nigeria and humanity. His vast plenitude of learning sparkled as fountain of light where he worked, and a stream of knowledge for those he interacted. His entire vertebrae was simply a robust trunk that provided solutions, provoked interrogations, reset complications, compressed facts, and inspired disruption, in a manner fused with zest and zeal, love and bond, triumph and revelation.

“He is a man that his family will miss terribly, in a way that words can hardly fill, but we trust God to truly heal. As we pray for his soul to receive peace and mercy, we encourage his family and friends to lift their hearts up, that here goes a man who never sowed beneath the labour of sacrifice, that ever walked bold with compassion, and now forever recalled solemnly without noise. Even in death, Ferdinand showed elegance and grit as a Devil’s beater,” the group said.
