The long-awaited national finals of the 24th Milo Basketball Championship (MBC) concluded on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos, with Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School of Lagos State and Dom Domigos College of Delta State claiming the titles of champions in the male and female categories, respectively.
In a thrilling finale for the male category, Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School triumphed over Father O’Connell of Niger State. The match, which was tied at 38-38 points at the end of the fourth quarter, went into extra time, where Ijaiye Housing Estate emerged victorious with a final score of 49-45 points.
In the female category, Dom Domigos College of Delta State defeated the 2023 champion, Topfield College of Ajegunle, with a score of 44-38 to clinch the national championship.

Folorunso Damilola of Ijaiye Housing Estate School was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament in the boys’ category, recognizing his outstanding performance throughout the competition.
Wassim El-Husseini, the Managing Director of Nestlé Nigeria Plc, commended the participants for their competitive spirit and dedication. “The participants embodied a spirit of competition that this championship fosters. To every player, coach, and supporter, your journey here is a testament to your hard work and commitment. I congratulate everyone,” he said.

The championship also featured a special category for young people with disabilities, underscoring its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The 24th Milo Basketball Championship showcased not only the athletic talents of Nigeria’s youth but also the values of hard work, determination, and unity.
