Fayose vows he won’t join APC, as he also supports some PDP candidates

Former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PD), has vowed he will not join the All Progressives Congress (APC) even though he supported some APC candidates in the general election.
He explained on Channels Television on Tuesday his support for President-elect Bola Tinubu of the APC is based on the principle of equity that the South should take over power at the federal level after the tenure of Muhammadu Buhari, a Northerner.
And he stressed on Arise TV on Thursday he also supports Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde, a member of the PDP, because his focus is on competent individuals, not necessarily political parties.
“Many people in Nigeria have been confronted with what they have said at different times and they either recant or say something new,” Fayose told Channels Television.
“I stand here to tell you that I will never be a member of the APC. I am not in politics for what it is anymore. I have been given a fair opportunity to lead Ekiti two times and defeated two incumbents.
“I have no apology for my action now and in the future. I have not hidden my respect for Bola Tinubu.”

PDP fractured, didn’t prepare for 2023 election
Fayose insisted the PDP is fractured and never prepared for the 2023 election, and counselled the party to close ranks and work towards the 2027 election cycle if it wants to take power, per reporting by Vanguard.
He warned leaders in the country to buckle up, saying the events leading to the 2023 election and the massive interest shown by the youth show it is no longer business as usual.
“Young people did not hide their disdain. They went for the leaders’ neck and took it out, sacked them, and occupied the space.
“Let me tell you again, this is a warning and further warning for those people coming in and returning that if you mess with the people, they will mess with you in four years’ time.”
