Fayose also asserted that unlike late former president, Buhari, his successor, Tinubu is accessible.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said his wife’s intervention stopped him from lambasting late former President, Muhammadu Buhari after his death.
He made the confession on Friday while featuring on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’
Ex-President, Muhammadu Buhari died in July 2025 at a private clinic in London and was buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
While assessing the late Nigerian leaders’ time in charge, Fayose noted that Nigerians praised him because it’s a norm not to speak ill of the dead.
He said, “The people in Nigeria only praise the dead. When President Buhari died, I wanted to come out and abuse him (but) my wife called me not to say so.”
The ex-governor, however, said no matter what some people are saying about the late former president, he did not perform up to acceptable standards during his eight-year tenure.
“Would you say Buhari performed? I’m not among those praising the dead. Don’t honour me when I die. When I die, I’m gone.” he added.
Fayose further said Nigeria was a mess under Buhari, wondering why people now heap the blame on the administration of Bola Tinubu.
He also noted that, unlike the late ex-President, his successor, Tinubu is accessible.
“He [Tinubu] is accessible. Was the former president accessible?
“A lot of things were happening in those days but do you still find them in the system? He is not a perfect man but we are not where we were.” he further argued.
