A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has pleaded with Nigerians to protect the head of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, from being shipped to the United States.
Kyari has been indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for aiding a self-confessed conman, Abass Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi in his fraudulent activities.
Fani-Kayode said Nigerians should demand evidence from the FBI like they did when the same FBI requested for the extradition of the chief executive officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema.
He said: “When my friend Allen Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace, was indicted by the FBI and the Americans demanded he be extradited, we stood by him. Onyema was later vindicated. Why can’t we do the same for Abba? Is it wrong for us to ask them to show us evidence of his crime first?”
On Twitter, Nigerians told Fani-Kayode to stop supporting a criminal because he is in a police uniform.

@Booharimustgo tweeted: “Oga sir! They have plenty of evidence, they are not stupid to start releasing all the evidence that they will eventually use to convict him. You should know better. Don’t turn this into a tribal matter… maybe you have hand in this crime else you won’t be this troubled.”
@PrincewillNnad3 also tweeted: “If you want to stand with anyone Mr FFK kindly do it alone, don’t recruit People to stand by him. Na who don chop get power to stand. Are you back from your tour?”
