The family of Asagba of Asaba, HRM Joseph Chike Edozien has officially announced the passing away of the revered monarch.
This was contained in a statement signed by his second son, Anthony Edozien, on behalf of the family, Chief Patrick Ndili, lhonor of Asaba and Palace Secretary and Obi Chief P Onyeobi, Iyase of Asaba, for Asaba Kingdom.
According to the statement, Anthony Edozien, will take charge of the kingdom as a regent until the first son returns from abroad and another monarch is installed.
Speaking further on the development, Chief Ndili said a new monarch has not been installed but that the regent would be there to perform the roles expected of a king.

He went on to chastise all the media outlets who falsely broke the news of the demise of the monarch, insisting he was still in the hospital and receiving treatment when they went to the press.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the transition unto eternal glory of our highly revered royal father, Asagba Joseph Chike Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba kingdom.
“In all parts of the country, when a monarch passes on, only the community has the right to confirm, nobody should have the audacity to confirm it.
“Some even published that he has passed on when he was still ill. It is an abomination. Those who did that need to cleanse themselves and if it happens again they will be sanctioned.
“The burial arrangement will be announced by the family,” Ndili stated.
