Falana urged FG to address the root cause of Nigeria’s problem, which is the ‘dollarization’ of economy

Popular Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana has called on the federal government to address the root cause of the economic hardship in the country rather than give palliative to states.

He made this known on Friday during an interview on Channels Television, where he argued that the N5 billion fuel subsidy removal palliatives the federal government released to the state governments are diversionary and wasteful.

According to him, Tinubu should tackle the root cause of the problem, which he identified as the dollarization of the country’s economy.

He also slammed the decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to float the Naira at the foreign exchange market, saying it was a wrong decision.

Speaking during the chat, Falana said: “Most of the interventions are temporary, sometimes diversionary, because the major problem is the dollarisation of the economy”

Prior to the interview by the learned counsel, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum had disclosed that N5 billion had been released to the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory at the end of Thursday’s National Economic Council meeting.
