Cesc Fabregas has been given the nod by his former club Arsenal to return to the Emirates to pick up a coaching role under his former teammate, Jack Wilshere.

According to the UK Telegraph, the former Spanish international’s Serie B club, Como, last played on December 26 and won’t be returning to action until January 14 this year.

With a three-week break handed to him, Fabregas took the step to achieve his dream of becoming a manager and Arsenal aided his decision by allowing him to go back to London Colney and help out with Arsenal’s Under 18s.

Since then, the 35-year-old has spent a few days at the Gunners’ training ground, where he worked with Wilshere, who is now the Arsenal U18s manager

Fàbregas came through Barcelona’s youth academy and left at 16 when he was signed by Premier League outfit, Arsenal in 2003.

After the club experienced injuries to key midfielders in the early part of the 2004/2005 season, the Spaniard was given his opportunity and he went on to establish himself in the team.

During that period, he broke several of the North London club’s records, earning a reputation as one of the best players in his position, and won the FA Cup in 2005.

However, after a protracted transfer saga, Fabregas left London on August 15, 2011 back to Barcelona in a deal worth up to £35 million, before he returned to Arsenal’s cross-town rivals, Chelsea in 2014.

While he was with the North London club, he donned the Gunners jersey 212 times in all competitions, finding the net on 35 occasions.
