The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has warned officers and men of the command to comply with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, on the mode of operations of the F-SARS and other tactical units.
This followed the wanton harasment and extortion of law-abiding citizens by men of the force.
The Police boss however appealed to the public to collaborate with the police in the fight against police brutality, harassment, incivility and extortion in Lagos State.
The Commissiner of Police had at different meetings with the Area Commanders, Heads of Department, Divisional Police Officers and SARS operatives in Lagos State, re-echoed the directives of the Inspector-General of Police and vowed to cause every officer liable for his unprofessional and unethical conducts.
In a press release with REF NO: CZ: 5650/LA/ PPRO/VOL. 3/35 and signed by Police Relations Officer, CP Olumiyiwa Ade, reaffirmed the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the SARS and other tactical units, as approved and circulated by the office of the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, to lecture and hint them of his determination to arrest and prosecute any police personnel who flouts the directives in Lagos State.
In addition, CP Hakeem Odumosu asserted that he would hold all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers accountable for disobedience to the IGP’s directives, which are being domesticated in Lagos State, in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
At the meetings held in the Conference Hall, GRA, Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, was accompanied and assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operarions, DCP Mohammed Ali, Deputy Commisioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Yetunde Longe, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State, DCP Tunji Disu.
