It is unprecedented and first of its kind in recent times where youth athletes Under 15 and below would be receiving upto N.2m in scholarship awards aside individual cash rewards and trophies.
Eyoto (Foundation) Academy athletics Championship will hold on December 7th-8th at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City Edo State.
According to Eyoto Executive Council, all materials for the Youth Championship are in place.
“T-shirts has been procured, the cup for the winning schools are ready, we have been mobilizing students athletes from Edo Central and Edo North.”
The technical director of the Championship, Coach Mutiu Oluwa also said prizes will be awarded to first, second and third in ten events for boys and ten events for girls and also special Olympics.
“At the end of the competition, we will select the best ten young school talents that will receive scholarships for N.2m (N200,000) each and the school with most medals will receive the 2023 Eyoto Sports Academy cup and a prize worth N100.000.
“We will also have medals for winners from outside Benin City, accommodate them, feed them for three days.
The Championship is scheduled for December 7th-8th 2023 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City.
Over 70 schools and 600 youth talents in all categories and events have already been mobilised for the 4th edition of the Championship.
Coach Oluwa insisted that screening of the young talents would be thorough and strictly based on verifiable birth certificate and NIN.
Eleven events would be on display including Special sports such as Deaf sports, wheel chair races among others.
