An explosion has occurred along the Trans-Niger Pipeline in the Bodo area of Rivers State, setting the facility ablaze.

The explosion, which took place on Monday night, has impacted the major export pipeline responsible for transporting crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.

The affected section is located in Gokana Local Government Area. As of press time, the cause of the explosion remains unknown. However, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of human interference, especially in light of recent threats from militant groups.

Some factions have warned of attacks on oil infrastructure if the Federal Government withholds Rivers State’s allocation amid the ongoing political crisis.
