Baring any last minute change of plan, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, will return to Nigeria on Friday, November 9.
TheNiche reliably gathered that the former Vice President and major challenger to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election will arrive from the desert city of Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, where he went to shortly after clinching the PDP presidential ticket at the Port Harcourt convention.
While in Dubai, Atiku held meetings with the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, who led a host of other chieftains of the opposition party, including Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is the Director General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, his running-mate and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, the Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation and former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, among others to fine-tune their campaign strategy ahead of the November 18 commencement date.
The special strategy session was meant to put finishing touches to some of PDP’s plans aimed at defeating Buhari at the next year’s poll.
TheNiche also gathered that Atiku used the forum to perfect his comprehensive policy document, detailing how he intends to improve Nigeria.
Our source, a member of the PDP, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said Atiku on his return will inaugurate the Saraki-led Presidential campaign council next week.
“Everything is set. Our presidential candidate’s roadmap for Nigeria’s development would be unveiled to Nigerians next week after the inauguration of the campaign council. All the structures are in place. The campaign is not an Abuja matter. We are going to the villages to meet Nigerian people.
” When we start, Nigerians will see something different,” he said.
