A former governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Lasun Yusuf, has dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Yusuf was elected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before defecting to LP. The 2022 Osun LP governorship candidate had promised the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to deliver Osun in 2023.
On Wednesday, during the PDP presidential campaign rally in Osogbo capital of Osun State at Freedom Park, the flag of the party was presented by the National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, to Yusuf.

The rally was attended by the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; Ayu; and the PDP Presidential Campaign Council chairman, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, among other party chieftains.
Yusuf, a former deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, prayed that Atiku would emerge as the winner of the 2023 presidential poll.
Ayu urged Osun residents to vote out APC and restore hope for the country by voting for PDP.
He said: “We are the hope of the future, things went bad under Buhari of APC. PDP is the best to restore the good fortune of Nigeria.”
Atiku commended Osun voters for returning PDP to power and also tasked them to replicate the same in 2023.
