Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, announced on Thursday the approval and appointment of a seven-member Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 8th National Youth Games, scheduled to take place from September 10th to 20th, 2024, in Delta State.
The committee is chaired by former President of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria and the current First Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, chief Solomon Ogba.
Other members include the President of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria and the immediate past Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa.
Chief Chinonye Aliyu Daphey, President of the Aquatic Federation of Nigeria; Chief Victor Onogagamue, former Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission; Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori; Mr. Harrison Ocholor, an ace broadcaster and seasoned sports journalist; and Mr. Festus Ohwojero, the current Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, who will also serve as the secretary of the committee.
According to Melody Sports FM, the LOC has been tasked with ensuring the successful hosting of the 8th National Youth Games by Delta State.
Their immediate responsibility begins this weekend, as the state government will be hosting a technical joint meeting for the Games from August 18th to 20th, 2024.
