Former Barcelona striker and President of Cameroon FA (FECAFOOT) Samuel Eto’o has sent tongues wagging on social media after predicting that his country, Cameroon will meet fellow African, Morocco in the final of the 2022 World Cup.
According to the former Chelsea forward, the Indomitable Lions will then go on to beat the Atlas Lions and become the first African nation to lift the trophy on December 18.
Eto’o believes African teams have gained valuable experience over the years and are now ready to win the World cup trophy in Qatar.
He told ESPN, “Africa has always had the potential to achieve a successful World Cup, but we haven’t always shown our best face up to now,” Eto’o said, in his capacity as an ambassador for Qatar Legacy, in a statement received by ESPN.

“During the years, African teams have acquired more and more experience, and I think they’re ready not only to participate in a World Cup, but also to win it.
“Cameroon will win the World Cup final against Morocco.”
No African team has ever gone beyond the quarter-finals of the World Cup and Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and Ghana (2010) are the only countries from the continent to reach the last eight.
The continent will be represented by five nations, Ghana, Cameroon, Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco in Qatar.
However, most netizens who commented on Eto’o prediction on social media believe he is being cheeky and disagreed with him, saying the current African champions, Senegal, remain Africa’s greatest hope.
