Favour Ofili’s omission from the women’s 100m event at 2024 Olympics has finally come under investigation as the Sports Ministry constituted 7-man panel to investigate the malaise during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games
Top on the incidents was Ofili’s omission from the women’s 100m list which caused outcry back home after the athlete revealed the misfortune on her social network.
Reports also claimed the women’s basketball team DTigress were barred from boarding the country’s boat for the Games’ opening ceremony, while boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore was removed from the women’s 60kg class after testing positive for a banned substance.
To unravel circumstances that led to these negative occurrences, the Ministry set up the 7 man committee with the instruction to get to the root causes of any ugly scenes arising from the country’s participation in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Members of the committee include Dr Mumuni Alao (South West) Chairman, Aliyu Mohammed (NW) Member, Hajia Rakiya Muhammed (NC)Member and Godwin Enakhena (SS)Member.
Others are Dr Abubakar Ango(NE)Member, Christy Opara (SE) Member and Barr Victor Okangbe(SS.)
The committee will be inaugurated at 11 am on Wednesday 25 September 2024 at the Media Centre, MKO Abiola Stadium Package A, Abuja.
Terms of reference for the newly constituted authority will be provided at the inauguration
