Gareth Southgate’s side strolled to victory, with Iran’s hopeless plight made worse by the early loss of goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand to concussion after a clash of heads with a team-mate.

The Three Lions opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder, Jude Bellingham headed home a cross from Manchester United’s left-back, Luke Shaw.

Southgate’s men doubled their advantage in the 44th minute when Harry Maguire found Bukayo Saka who made it 2-0 to England.

England picked up from where they stopped it in the second half, as Saka scored his brace to make it 4-0 to the Three Lions.

Iran eventually reduced the deficit in the 65th minute after Ali Gholizadeh and Mehdi Taremi combined in the box to beat Jordan Pickford in England’s goal.

Rashford restored England’s advantage to 5-1 barely 40 seconds after replacing Bukayo Saka.

To put the gloss on an incredibly dominant display, Jack Grealish slotted home from close range after a good run and pull back by Callum Wilson.

Iran did pull another back in injury time when Taremi slotted in a penalty after a John Stones foul.
