Nigerian and Watford striker, Emmanuel Dennis, has refuted reports that he is planning to shun an invitation to play for the Eagles at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.
The striker was reported by a Nigerian online portal, owngoalnigeria.com, to have rejected an invitation by Nigeria Football Federation to represent Nigeria in 2022 AFCON.
The 24-year-old who is in the running for a call-up to the Super Eagles especially with the facial injury sustained by Eagles’ number first-choice striker, Victor Osimhen denied the report.

Dennis labeled the report by the media outfit as fake news, which they fabricated because he did not grant such an interview.
He said: ” This is fake news. Very false report. I never said such. It is a fabrication of the website and it is untrue”,
He also added that the news was malicious as the dream of every patriotic Nigerian footballer is to represent his country.
Meanwhile, Watford manager, Claudio Ranieri, has praised Emmanuel Dennis, after another fantastic performance in the 3-1 home loss to defending champion, Man City.
The Italian described him as a speedy, intelligent, and a generous player, saying he likes how he plays but encouraged him to continue to improve as a young player.
Ranieri was full of adulation for his star player, and he alluded to his previous exploits against Real Madrid in the Champions League in the 2019/20 season.
“I’m not surprised because he (Dennis) is a very good player. He scored twice at the Bernabeu! Anyone who scores two at the Bernabeu is not a normal man.
“He has speed, intelligence, he is generous, and I like how he plays. He has to improve because he is young, but I have a very good relationship with him, and all of my players.” Ranieri told the clubs’ website.
Emmanuel Dennis was voted Watfords’ player of the month in November, after scoring six goals and providing five assists in 13 Premier League games for the club this season
The former Club Brugge striker, who joined Watford from the Belgian outfit this year, has also been named in Whoscored.com list of players for November.
