A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday stopped Chief Ikechi Emenike from parading himself as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Abia state.
The order of the court followed an exparte application filed by Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah wherein he asked the court to restrain Emenike from parading himself as APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 general election having been nominated by Abia state chapter, instead of the National Executive Committee of of APC pending the hearing and determination of the plaintiff/applicant’s motion on notice.
The court also granted an order of interim injunction, restraining the INEC from removing, substituting, withdrawing changing plaintiff’s name with any other name as Abia gubernatorial candidate or receiving or accepting from APC or any other person , any name other than the name of the plaintiff as its candidate for the 2019 Abia state gubernatorial election. The court also ordered that the motion on notice dated 3rd December, 2018 and filed on 4th December, 2018 be served on the defendants within five days of the making of the order Further hearing in the was adjourned to 18th December, 2018.
