A village head in Kano State has landed in trouble following a petition against him that he sold land to Fulani herdsmen who have converted the place to a settlement. .
According to an online newspaper, The Lead, the village head, Alhaji Abdullahi Sa’adu of Butu-Butu village in Rimingado local government area of Kano state, was suspended by the Emir of Karaye, Ibrahim Abubakar, for selling land to Fulani herdsmen.
Karaye is one of the four emirates created by the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019.
The Karaye Emirate spokesman, Haruna Muhammad Gunduwawa, announced the village head’s suspension through a statement on Friday, July 16.
He said: “The Fulani migrants built a mosque on the land without following the due process which ignites conflict with the host community.
“The suspension is to pave way for proper investigation by a committee set up to look into the allegations against the traditional ruler.
“The District Head of Rimingado, Auwalu Ahmad Tukur (Magajin Rafin Karaye) had earlier written a petition to the Emir of Karaye, Ibrahim Abubakar II reporting the wrongdoing of the village head.”
“The village head was cautioned by both the District Head office and Rimin Gado local government council on selling of the land.”
