Although she has always said she was not interested in getting married, very few people really understand the real reasons behind Elvina Ibru’s decision.
The former Miss Big and Beautiful competition in the United Kingdom and beautiful daughter of Michael Ibru has revealed that she is neither short of men wooing her for marriage nor an unbeliever in the institution.
Her not getting married particularly stems from the fact that marriage has been made nonsense of, particularly in Nigeria where it is not a fair institution for women. She complained that the issue of cheating is handled differently for the partners.
Growing up in a polygamous home, the Urhobo, Delta State-born broadcaster particularly mentioned what is obtainable in her area where most Urhobo men are expected to cheat on their wives.
This reason seems to be paramount, but some people would say she doesn’t have to marry an Urhobo man who would be queried if he does not cheat on his wives.
Growing up with many married male friends, Elvina’s perception of marriage was also affected by their sad tales of married life. She believes she is too good to go through such heartaches, so marriage is not for her.
The 42-year-old lady is in a relationship with a 34-year-old man she is not planning to get married to because she is having the best time of her life with him.
So, Elvina should be respected for what she wants out of life in terms of marriage.
