Why do you think God cannot do some things?
1. Unbelief, because we do not understand the ways of God.
2. Because it has not been done before, we think it cannot be done.
Text: Hebrews 11:24-31
A lot of us do not survive in this world because we think that all that we see is all that there is; and because we do not know that beyond what we see are different kind of things, we suffer the consequences.
You need to know God and you need to believe in God, so that you can activate your faith. It is important that you give your life to Jesus. It takes faith to deal with a God that you cannot see.
Why is life so difficult? Why is it that as soon as a baby is born into this world, the baby begins to face challenges?
Why is life so difficult?
Life is challenging for a lot of us, simply because we do not understand the issues of life; we deal with life from a totally uninformed or a totally misinformed perspective. Our assumptions about life are wrong. A lot of us think that all that we see is all that there is to life. Most of us are very angry as to why life is not going our way.
The bible tells us in 2Kings 6:13-17 that Elisha, a great man of God, had a servant: he and his servant were staying in a cage and then all of a sudden, there was a problem. The servant looked out of the cage and saw that they had been surrounded by the enemy, and he looked at life and he was grumbling and complaining to his master that life is not fair.
A lot of us have looked at life from our physical perspectives and we have been grumbling and complaining to our friends, master, brother, wives etc. that life is simply not fair. The servant must have been looking at Elisha and saying ‘what have we done that the enemies has surrounded us’. A lot of us are limited by what we can see and we are caged by our perception. A lot of our problems in life are only a perception based on limited knowledge. If you can see deep enough, you will see the source of your change: a lot of our problems in life are based on a perception that is based on limited knowledge.
All of a sudden, Elisha prayed: God, reveal to this man the way out of this situation.
The second reason life has such great problems is that a lot of us are blissfully unaware of previous parental covenants and agreements made on our behalf to which we are seriously obligated.
The Bible tells us in 2Kings 5:27 that the agreement that a gentleman called Gehazi made on behalf of his seeds rested on the seeds for the rest of their lives.
Gehazi was a servant of Elisha. A man called Naaman came to see Elisha to be healed of his sickness – leprosy. After receivibg the healing, the man offered to pay Elisha some money for the healing, and Elisha said: “I’m not going to take any money from you because I have gotten freely, I have freely given, go.” But this man called Gehazi thought that Elisha was being stupid, so he ran after Naaman and took from Naaman a couple of garments, food, some trinket etc. When he got back to Elisha, Elisha said: “Gehazi where have you gone?” and Gehazi told a lie.
A lot of us do not know that when we tell lies, we compound an already bad situation. One of the best things in the world is simply to tell the truth because the Bible says: the truth will always set you free. That is why it is not good to tell lies.
And Elisha said: Gehazi I saw you as you moved, I saw you as you begged, I saw you as you received. Because you have told a lie, you have signed an agreement with leprosy for yourself and your seeds.
Because of Gehazi’s lie, the rest of his generation became lepers; so any day a baby was born in Gehazi’s house, instead of celebration, there was mourning because whatever he gave birth to was leprous.
