The poor power supply had affected businesses and made life unbearable, a situation a cross section of the residents who spoke to NAN in Hadejia, described as worrisome.

A resident, Aminu Umar, said the persistent power outage has made life difficult due to the prevailing hot weather.

He said that the situation had forced many families to sleep outside, inspite of the ravaging mosquitoes and other pests.

Another resident, Muhammad Garba, said he often relied on a generator, adding that the cost of scarce petrol was taking a toll on his FINANCES.

“There has been no electricity supply in the last three weeks. I am spending so much on fuel to run my power generator,” he said.

A shop keeper, Uwani Jubril, decried the outrageous billing by the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, saying residents were paying for services not rendered.

“Electricity consumers are being short-changed and exploited inspite of the inability of the company to supply power,” she said..

She urged the Federal Government to adopt proactive measures to boost power supply in the country.

An official of the power company, who spoke on condition of anonymity, however, attributed the situation to the drop in power generation across the country. (NAN)
