El-Rufai to spend another night in EFCC’s custody
Ex-governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, will spend his second night detained at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
El-Rufai, who presented himself for questioning over corruption allegations on Monday at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, was held in custody by EFCC interrogators.
The former governor is being grilled over alleged fraud during his tenure from 2015 to 2023.
A source from the EFCC told NAN that El-Rufai will still spend Tuesday night with the commission’s interrogators.
The source said, “As I am talking to you now, the former governor is still with our interrogators, and he will be spending the night with them.”
According to the source, the agency would be diligent in its investigation of the allegations levelled against the former governor.
The source said, “I can assure you that EFCC will do its job professionally by attending to all issues raised against him.”
The source, who could not confirm when he would be released or when he would be charged in court, said it depended on the progress of the investigations.
