Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El- Rufai on Wednesday sparked defection rumour after visiting the Abuja National Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
His visit to the headquarters of the party was seen in a now-viral video circulating on popular social media platform X.
A source close to El-Rufai later confirmed he paid a consultation visit to the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, but did not give details of their meeting.

The visit, however, led to speculations among Nigerians, most of whom concluded that the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is strategizing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
El-Rufai, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) was recently nominated for a ministerial position by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He nomination was, however, withdrawn by the president after the upper chamber of the legislative arm, Senate failed to confirm him.
