El-Rufai again tears into Tinubu, Nigeria worse off since you became President

Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has reiterated to Bola Tinubu that Nigeria has been going backwards socially and economically since he became President nearly two years ago, and his ruling by “lies” and by “propaganda” cannot put anything concrete on the ground to engender hope of a better country under his watch.
El-Rufai this year defected from Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and has again accused Tinubu of incompetence, nepotism, and betrayal of the founding ideals of the APC.
He voiced his latest outburst in an interview with Deutsche Welle Hausa in Katsina, saying Nigeria is worse off today in terms of insecurity, economy, and governance than it was under previous administrations.
“Ever since the assumption of office of Tinubu as Nigeria’s President, the country has begun to go backwards,” he lamented.
“Insecurity has increased, the economy is dwindling, affluent people are now poor, and ethnic profiling is on the rise.
“Whoever he is giving an appointment to must be someone he knows or from his tribe.
“They can dismiss that, but Nigerians are not stupid. There is no way your name is this, and they will say no, you are from Katsina.”
Tinubu’s administration the worst in Nigerian history, he says
El-Rufai also told journalists in Katsina that the Tinubu administration is the most corrupt and intolerant government Nigeria has seen since the return to democracy in 1999.
He said the government under Tinubu is “the worst in Nigerian history,” accusing it of relying on propaganda to mask its failure, especially in addressing persistent security.
“This is the most corrupt and most intolerant government in Nigeria.
“This is the most lying government that depends on false propaganda. They lied that security has improved in Nigeria.”
El-Rufai, who was in Katsina to commiserate with Governor Dikko Radda on the death of his mother, dismissed claims by Tinubu and his people that the security has improved, insisting that many communities in Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto are still plagued by terrorism.
“In Kaduna, Dogo Gide is still around, Mallam Abba, the Boko Haram terrorist is still alive. Bello Turji is still around but every day, they announce names of people that are bandits’ leaders that they have killed and [say] security has improved.
“How many local governments are under the occupation of bandits in Katsina State? How many are occupied by bandits in Zamfara State and some parts of Sokoto State? And because you are in government you think that nothing would happen?
“I have said it before, this is the worst federal government in Nigerian history and all the indices have shown it.”
El-Rufai described the SDP as a party of integrity poised to challenge the APC in the 2027 election.
