Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, will reject, if offered the Senate Minority leadership slot, sources close to the Enugu West Senator told TheNiche.
There have been reports linking Ekweremadu with the position of senate minority leader as the most ranked PDP senator in the 9th Assembly.
But those close to Ekweremadu said after being deputy senate president for 12 years, there is no way he would demote himself by accepting to serve as minority leader.
He would rather remain as a floor member, the sources said.
There have been intense scheming for positions ahead of the June 4 inauguration day in the Senate and House of Representatives.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has not yet decided whether to allow the legislators choose their principal officers among themselves, or allow the party make the choice for them to avoid the experience of the 8th Senate where Senate President Bukola Saraki emerged without the approval of his party.
The APC has also not decided the zoning formula for what positions in both the senate and House of Representatives.
This has given rise to regional blocs making contradicting agitations and demands.
