The people of Ezimba-Ogberuru Autonomous Community in Orlu local government Area of Imo State has started the new year on a joyous note as their illustrious son, Dr Iheanacho Orabuchi, an academic and writer was conferred with a chieftaincy title Eube Dike Ezimba-Ogberuru by Eze Mike Igwemma, KSJ (EZI 1 of Ezimba-Ogberuru Autonomous Community) for his invaluable service to the community.
The honour was part of activities to mark the coronation of the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Mike Igwemma and his wife.
Conferring the title on Dr. Orabuchi, Eze Igwemma described him as a worthy son of Ezimba-Ogberuru Community who in spite of his sojourn overseas, never forgot his roots.
The Eze said the award was long overdue for Dr. Orabuchi who has given the community international recognition and contributions in no small measure to the development of the community.
In his response, Dr. Orabuchi thanked Eze Igwemma, his royal council and the entire Ezimba-Ogberuru community for finding him worthy to receive such an honour.
He reaffirmed his love for the community, stating that he will not relent in his continuous effort and activities to provide voice to Ezimba.
In a statement, Dr. Orabuchi said, “It is my onus to ensure that my activities are aimed at continuously empowering our youths and the downtrodden among us as I provide new vistas of opportunities for our community. It is my vision to transform our community in order to provide hope and aspiration for our youth who are the leaders of tomorrow.
“We must emphasize greatly on educating everyone, both old and young from Ezimba. We must uplift each other and eschew bitterness that stifles development”.
Some other notable Nigerians also showered encomiums on Dr. Orabuchi for the honour and urged him not to relent in contributing more to uplift his community.
In his goodwill message, the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu also recognized Dr. Orabuchi as a respected community leader and professional academic. He congratulated him and prayed that the honour will spur him to do even more towards the development of his community and the nation. Senator Ekweremadu also congratulated HRH Eze Mike Igwemma and his Lolo on their anniversary and wished them well.
Also, the former governor of Imo state, Chief Ikedi Ohakim felicitated with Dr. Orabuchi on the honour and implored him to continue to hold on to the values and ideals that qualified him for the title and many more conferrals that will come his way.
The Managing Director/CEO of Capital Oil and Gas, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba, in his goodwill message, noted that the recognition of Dr. Orabuchi has laid bare the fact that his actions have neither gone unnoticed nor been disregarded and prayed that God imbues him with wisdom and the wherewithal to continue the good works that earned him the remarkable honour and recognition.
The Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Hope Uzodimma was not left out. He praised the uncommon commitment of Dr. Orabuchi to the upliftment of Ezimba Ogberuru Community and the entire Igbo race and enjoined him to continue to be a shining example to the younger generation.
The occasion was graced by notable Nigerians, friends and associates of Dr. Orabuchi from all walks of life.
