Ekiti first lady, Yemi Oyebanji endorses Adeparusi’s attempt at GWR cook-a-thon record

Oyebanji also assured the chef of her support while noting that Adeparusi is using talent to make a positive impact

The first lady of Ekiti state, Mrs Yemi Oyebanji, has expressed support for the attempt by a Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Adeparusi, who hails from Ekiti State commenced a cooking marathon on June 9, if successful, she could nullify an earlier attempt by an Akwa Ibom native, Hilda Baci, who had taken a shot at the world record.

Taking to her social media post on Sunday, Oyebanji hailed the Ekiti chef, saying her attempt demonstrates a show of determination and courage.

She went on to assure Adeparusi of her support while noting that the chef is using talent to make a positive impact. 

She tweeted: “The last 70 hours have been about Chef Dammy @dammypas, a determined Ekiti undergraduate, who is making a bold attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. 

“For me, it’s her courage and determination to stand for something positive, using her God-given talent to make a statement.

“Miss Damilola Adeparusi has our love and support as she forges ahead to make this bold statement.

“I salute your courage, Chef Dammy, for your decision to run your race. Congratulations.”

Baci during her attempt at GWR cook-a-thon record of 87 hours 45 minutes set in 2019 by an Indian chef

by Lata Tondon achieved a yet to be ratified 100-hour and 40 minutes. 

However, Adeparusi is now looking to set a new mark of 120-hour, but her attempt has elicited a lot of backlashes, as many faulted her for not waiting for confirmation of Baci’s effort. 

Baci, on her part, praised Adeparusi for having a go at her world record and encouraged her to embrace the journey, learn from every experience and continue to inspire others.

She tweeted: “The beauty of dream is that they are unique to each individual. Dami, your boldness to take on a cooking challenge shows that passion knows no limits.

“Embrace the journey, learn from every experience and inspire others with your unwavering spirit”.
