Ekiti Election: An eye opener —APC chieftain

-

Mr Bode Towoju, an Abuja-based chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the June 16 Ekiti governorship election is an eye opener that prepares the party for the Aug. 9 Osun gubernatorial election.

Towoju said this on Tuesday in Abuja while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on APC’s build-up to the Osun poll.

He said that there would not be a repeat of Ekiti experience in Osun, as Go. Rauf Aregbesola was a grassroots politician who was in touch with the people.

He said that the APC would record a landslide victory in the Saturday’s election because its governorship candidate had no problem with the electorate.

According to him, Aregbesola is a worker friendly governor who is committed to the course of the state’s workforce.

Towoju expressed optimism that the party would secure at least 90 per cent of the vote for the governor, adding that all the opponents put together could not defeat the APC flag bearer.

“Osun has always been progressive and they will not disappoint the APC on Saturday,” he said.

He, however, cautioned the Federal Government on the handling of the election, adding that the number of security personnel deployed to the state could intimidate voters and disenfranchise them.

“It is wrong to militarise election; the people can be scared away and the security can equally be overzealous about the situation and resort to intimidation and harassment of voters,” he said.

He debunked the Minister of State for Defence, Mr Musiliu Obanikoro’s allegation that the APC had brought in people from Lagos, especially in Alimosho Local Government Area, describing it as untrue.

It will be recalled that Obanikoro had, at a news conference, made the allegation.

He said that with all the former governors of the state now in APC’s fold, victory was certain for the party. (NAN)
