Ejidike counsels caution over NFF rift

-

Donatus Ejidike, Nigeria’s pillar of sports, has called for caution in the crisis rocking the boat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He made the appeal following the ruling of a Federal High Court in Jos that dismissed the NFF executive led by Amaju Pinnick and pronounced Chris Giwa as new NFF president.
Ejidike urged the warring factions to adopt amicable resolution instead of opening old wounds, particularly as FIFA does not want court involvement in football administration.
Ejidike, who doubles as the president of Karate Federation of Nigeria, asked Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, to prevail on the two sides for a peaceful resolution.
“Now is not the best period to open any can of worms that will either polarise the Nigeria’s football ruling authority or distract the nation’s focus,” he said.
“Nigeria is tottering on the precipice of world football ladder; therefore, celebrating crisis is not the best thing to happen to us at this period.”
“The pain of Super Eagles crashing out of the African Nations Cup is still very fresh in our memory and that should be our collective concern.
“The Nigerian league should find its rhythm to win the hearts and followership of numerous sports lovers. In this sense, we should eschew any act that will derail sports promotions and development.”
Ejidike said Nigeria will rise again in the world of sports and, to achieve this, all hands must be on deck.
