“I want to continue at this amazing club and amazing family and I’m very happy and very excited for the future,” Elneny told Arsenal Media.

Despite barely featuring in the first half of the season, Elneny proved to be one of Arteta’s most precious assets during the final stretch of the 2021-22 season.

He started the final seven Premier League games after Thomas Partey’s thigh injury and Lokonga’s before-par performances in the three games Arsenal lost after Partey’s injury.

Arsenal went on to win five of the seven games he played in, winning tough back-to-back fixtures against Chelsea, Man United, and West Ham during that time.

Elneny’s new deal means that strikers Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are now the only two first-team players that have contracts set to expire at the end of June.

Like the Egyptian, Nketiah featured prominently during the final months of the 2021/22 campaign, netting five league goals in eight starts.

Elneny, who joined Arsenal from  Basel in January 2015, has featured for the Gunners in 147 games, notching five goals and ten assists in the process.
