River State Governor Nyesom Wike on Monday said he is not afraid of being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) when his tenure expires in May.

Wike said in a television interview that he would not secretly leave the country before the expiration of his tenure just to avoid invitation for questioning by the EFCC.

The anti-graft agency recently said some state governors were under its watchlist for alleged corruption.

“I’m not afraid of EFCC. Why should I be afraid of it? If they invite me I will answer them. I won’t run away a day before my tenure expires,” said Wike.

The governor noted that he was in support of the ward leaders who suspended the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, in Benue State.

“Ayu has failed woefully. He led PDP to a collosal failure and should have resigned without waiting to be suspended.

“A man who lost his ward and state has no business presiding over the affairs of PDP. Now you have lost Benue State, if other states had also been lost which state will you have been presiding over?” he asked.
