It would be recalled that a police officer, who was attached to the NNPC Mega Filling Station along Abakaliki-Enugu Express Road was on April 8, 2016, shot and killed by some hoodlums while returning from his duty post.

But police reports said that the late police officer was shot to death while trying to rescue victims of armed robbery along Abakaliki-Enugu Express Road.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ebonyi State, ASP George Okafor, said that his colleague was arrested in the course of investigations into the murder of their late colleague.

He said, “On April 8, 2016, a police officer on duty was shot and killed and his rifle taken away from him by armed robbers along Abakaliki-Enugu Express Road. In the course of our investigations, we arrested some suspects, and the arrest of the police man is also part of the investigations.”

Okafor denied the speculation that the police officer, now suspect, was the one who shot his late colleague to death, saying that until investigations were completed, nobody could confirm who shot him.
