The Ebonyi State youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Mark Onu, has called on the youths of the state to eschew cultism, kidnapping and other social vices capable of ruining their future.
Onu, who is also the President, Ekubaraoha Consultative Youth Assembly, spoke with newsmen in Abakaliki while reacting to the Ebonyi State government’s effort to checkmate the incident of cultism and kidnapping in the state.
He pointed out that the Ebonyi State government had established a strong synergy with relevant security agencies to stamp out cultism in Ebonyi State and appealed to the youths to avail themselves of the empowerment programmes of the Ebonyi State government under David Nweze Umahi.
The youth leader called on the youths to ensure commitment in their collaboration with government and authorities at their local domains for the promotion of internal peace and security of the lives and property of the people.
The president of Ekubaraoha Youth Assembly thanked Governor Umahi for lifting the suspension slammed on him during May 29th democracy day at the Abakaliki Township Stadium and for his recent appointment as the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilization.
“I wish to express my profound gratitude to the entire peace-loving and law-abiding youths of Ebonyi State and all members of Ekubaraoha
Youth Assembly for their numerous support, steadfastness, and total commitment to the PDP-led government in Ebonyi State and indeed for keeping faith with me through this period of trials.
“Let me reiterate my earlier plea to the teeming Ebonyi youths to remain focused, law-abiding and be more patient with our youth friendly Governor who is working tirelessly to ensure that youths are properly placed in vantage positions in his administration. The recent appointment of Technical Advisers to the Governor is a true testimony of this fact.
“He has also mapped out commendable programmes such as; One Youth, One Hectare of Farm, youth and women empowerment programmes and lots of others. These are aimed at but not limited to youth empowerment, boosting the economy of the state through agriculture, revenue generation, wealth creation, less dependence on government and crime
reduction. “I sincerely urge the youths of Ebonyi State to shun cultism, kidnapping and other social vices as the government of His Excellency; David Nweze Umahi has vowed to stamp out cultism in the state through a concrete synergy created with all security agencies.
He congratulated Governor Umahi for adding one more year and prayed that God should continue to grant him wisdom to deliver on his campaign promises.
He also urged residents to pay their taxes as and when due to enable government to continue in providing dividends of democracy to them.
