The police in Lagos have arrested three students of Dowen College linked to the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, the 12-year-old beaten to death by his schoolmates.

According to TheCable, sources close to the family confirmed the development.

TheNiche had reported that at least five SS2 students of Dowen College allegedly descended on the young Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old boy battered by his own schoolmates, and died a few days later.

He died after battling internal injuries he sustained from the fatal assault. But Dowen College claimed the injuries were caused by a fall during a football match.

That statement is now haunting Dowen College because the injuries do not match the type a lad playing soccer could suffer.

Besides, Perrie Oromoni, a cousin of the deceased, tweeting via his handle,@Perrisonoromoni, alleged that no fewer than five SS2 students of Dowen College assaulted his brother because he refused to join their cult.

Before his death, Oromoni had named five students who he said had jointly attacked him in his dormitory room, inflicting on him multiple internal injuries.

Hakeem Odumosu, the state commissioner of police, also confirmed that three out of the five students are already in custody, according to The Cable.

The commissioner said they are assisting the police in their investigation.

TheNiche had also reported that the family of the late Buruji Kashamu, former Ogun Senator, whose son, Michael, was named as one of the five students at Dowen College, culpable in the beating that led to the death of Sylvester Oromoni, has denied the charge.

Breaking their silence on the matter, the family, represented by Mutairu Kashamu, while confirming Michael as their son and a student of the College, spoke of how their ward maintained his innocence after “careful” questioning.
