The Federal government says it has released N4.5 billion to doctors in all the 31 Federal Teaching and Medical Centres across the country for the payment of their allowances.

The doctors commenced a nationwide strike on Monday, June 15 to protest the nonpayment of their allowances.

A tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari special assistant on social media, Bashir Ahmaad, quoted the minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, as saying that the money would cover the hazard and inducement allowances for the month of April and May of the doctors.
