Dino Melaye came a distant third in the just concluded off season election in Kogi State

Former senator and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the just concluded off season election in Kogi State, Dino Melaye, has claimed that there was no election in his state on Saturday.
He made the assertion while justifying his refusal to cast his vote during the governorship election.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the election, Usman Ododo as the winner after polling 446,283 votes. Murtala Ajakla of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) came second with 259,052 votes, while Dino came a distant third with 46,362 votes.
However, speaking while appearing as a guest on Channels TV Politics Today, the PDP gubernatorial candidate said no election took place.

He also said whether he voted or not, was immaterial, as it was not a requirement by law.
The ex-lawmaker further claimed that some contestants won elections while in incarceration in the past.
Reacting to the outcome of the controversial election, Dino Melaye said: “The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status. People win elections in prison.
“Legally, it has no relevance to the election. Whether I voted or not, it is immaterial.
“I don’t want to talk about it; there was no election in Kogi State on Saturday.”
