Terror merchant Bello Turji and his goons have intensified attacks causing mayhem in communities in the Zamfara-Sokoto axis, former Sokoto Governor Dalhatu Bafarawa has cried out.

His alarm coincides with Defence Headquarters (DHQ) pledging to wipe out the jihadists in a matter days any time from now, according to pronouncements by military top brass, led by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa.

Bafarawa expressed his latest concern in an interview with RFI Hausa, urging the government to stand up to Turji.

“If an individual like Turji would unleash such mayhem, and disrupt movement in our communities, then it calls for action. Government should rise up to the challenge,” he said, per Daily Post.

Turji recently threatened thunder and brimstone if his detained relatives were not released by January 1.

“I will begin 2025 by killing the people of Shinkafi. Thereafter, we will demand ransom and they will not have peace of mind.

“We will disrupt the peaceful order and restore conflict. If they don’t want this, they must release our people who have been arrested,” Turji demanded in a video.

Musa pledges military will overrun Turji, other terrorists

Musa, in his latest psychological warfare and pushback against criminals, restated the commitment of the Armed Forces to eliminating by fire power, terrorists and other merchants of crime causing security breaches across the country.

He gave an assurance during a visit to the military cantonment in Samaru in Zangon Kataf Council of Kaduna that the military remains resolute in its efforts to restore peace and stability.

“We are committed to ensuring that criminal elements causing insecurity are completely removed. Nigerians deserve to live in peace, and the armed forces will not relent until we achieve that,” he insisted.

Musa said the visit to the Samaru military base was part of efforts to assess and enhance operational readiness in tackling insecurity in southern Kaduna and its environs.

He commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication, stressing that their welfare remains a top priority.

“Your sacrifices are not unnoticed. We are committed to improving your welfare and ensuring you have the tools and support needed to succeed in your duties.”

He also charged the soldiers to remain steadfast and professional, urging them to respect human rights while carrying out their responsibilities.

The commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, equally encouraged the troops to sustain their efforts in securing the region.
