Popular TV host, Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun popularly known as Denrele, has described the comparison between him and the likes of Bobrisky and James Brown as a misconception.
The University of Lagos (Unilag) graduate made the clarification in an attempt to correct the stereotype that he paved the way for Nigerians who have now taken to cross dressing.
Denrele disclosed this as a guest on an online TV show, ‘Lunch Date with Vanguard’, where he argued that the comparisons between him and these cross dressers make no sense.
According to the thespian, unlike these social media sensations, he has been in the entertainment industry as far back as 1994, way before online business started.

He, therefore, asserted that his fame and success didn’t come from social media influence but pure hard work and dedication.
He said, “You can’t rubbish the portfolio of work of someone who has been acting, modeling, and revolutionalized the red carpet culture in Nigeria”
Denrele, whose dad was once a disc jockey in Germany, further claimed he has been instrumental to the successes of several Nigerian artistes since he got into the entertainment industry.
He went on to hint that his earliest and biggest influence was by an Afro-German-Caribbean vocal group that specialized in disco and funk, Bonny M, a claim he, however, doesn’t want to be misconstrued as cross-dressing.
The 45-year-old entertainer concluded by saying that people do not understand his brand and that it explains the misconception that his brand is bizarre and out of the box.
