Dele Momodu links Wike, Fubara’s feud to control of ‘Rivers State treasury’

Dele Momodu also alleged that Tinubu wants Wike to get hold of Rivers State so that he can secure money for his re-election

Former Presidential aspirant and veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, has said the animosity between Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Nyesom Wike has a financial undertone.

He made this known on Thursday night while featuring on popular Channels TV programme, ‘Politics Today’.

According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, the political rivalry between Wike and Fubara is for the control of “Rivers State treasury“.

He went on to allege that President Tinubu wants Wike to get hold of the state, so that he can secure money for his re-election..

Speaking during the interview, Dele Momodu said: “They are fighting in Rivers because of politics only. They also need the money in Rivers.

“Tinubu has Wike in Rivers. They want him also to get hold of the state to not only give them votes, but a structure of money, structure of having direct access to the treasury Rivers State plays an important role in election in Nigeria.”

Fubara and Wike have been at each other’s jugular since the incumbent governor assumed office on May 29, 2023.

The fight later assumed a dangerous dimension and spread to the state House of Assembly, local government and state cabinet.

President Bola Tinubu thereafter intervened in the crisis and prevailed on both factions to sign a peace-pact.

However, despite the peace accord, both parties and their loyalist have continued the cold war.
