D’Banj speaks first time after release from detention

D’Banj while confirming his release by ICPC on Instagram, said he was released because  nothing was found on him

Ace Nigeria singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, better known as D’banj, who was arrested by Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission’s (ICPC) has opened up on what transpired while he was being detained. 

D’banj was arrested by the anti-graft agency on Tuesday, December 6, on allegations of diverting funds meant for the social empowerment programme ‘N-Power Scheme.’

The ‘Oliver Twist’ crooner took to his Instagram page after his release on Friday to emphasise he had no business with fraud he was linked with, while stressing that all he loves to do is ‘chopping’ life.

While confirming his release z 

released by (ICPC), after spending over 72 hours in detention, he also said he was released because  nothing was found on him. 

In his words: “Global thank you to the world. I was invited on an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with all I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth.

“I have no business with fraud, all I do is chop life. I was released on self-recognition because nothing was seen or found on me. God bless you all my people,” he captioned his recent photo.”

Meanwhile, D’banj’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi has confirmed the musician was released on supervised probation. 

He also claimed that the ICPC didn’t trace any evidence of fraudulent activity to the singer.

He said, “Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him,”
