CSU deposition shows why Tinubu forged his certificate

Southwest College transcript Tinubu submitted for admission into CSU, in which he claimed to have graduated from Government College, Lagos (GCL) in May 1970, and identified as a Black American. Both claims are false. GCL was not established until 1974 and Tinubu, a Nigerian, attests in his INEC form he does not have dual citizenship.

CSU deposition shows Tinubu didn’t apply for replacement certificate

By Jeph Ajobaju, Chief Copy Editor

Bola Tinubu did not apply for, nor was he issued, a replacement certificate, according to the deposition by Chicago State University (CSU) released on October 3, which explains why he procured a new certificate after he claimed to have lost the original.

The President swore an affidavit around 1999 when he was contesting for Lagos Governor that he had lost all his academic credentials.

The facts stand on two legs:

  • He lost the original certificate CSU issued to him in 1979.
  • He did not apply for a replacement certificate.

This quashes the distortion put out in a Tweet last week by Aso Rock that Tinubu could not have forged a certificate he already possesses.

The truth: Tinubu lost his original certificate, but did not apply for a replacement, so he forged a replacement which he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) – which the Constitution says disqualifies him from the office of President. Period.

Discrepancies in Southwest College transcript

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has filed the Chicago papers along with his appeal at the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) which upheld the election of Tinubu.

Atiku has cited the Chicago papers to insist Tinubu forged his CSU certificate as well as the documents he used to attend Southwest College Chicago (SCC), from where he got the transcript to gain admission into CSU.

Southwest College transcript showing the owner is a female.

Among the discrepancies Atiku cited in the SCC transcript are:

  • The owner identified herself as a female
  • Was born in 1954
  • Attended Government College, Lagos (GCL)
  • Graduated from GCL in 1970
  • Identified herself as a Black American

Tinubu argued in the US court the “F” (female) in the transcript was a typographical error, and would perhaps also argue the 1954 year of birth was equally a typo. He may impress with the those claims because they were typed in, not hand written.

However, CSU did not issue the SCC documents and cannot categorically affirm the discrepancies in them were typographical errors.

Southwest College transcript showing the owner was born in 1954. Tinubu was born in 1952, according to what he filled in INEC form

On the other hand, the details about GCL and ethnicity were filled in by hand.

That is, the female student or Tinubu filled in by hand that she/he attended Government College, Lagos; graduated from the school in 1970; and is a Black American.

It turns out Government College, Lagos was founded in 1974. And Tinubu has filled in his INEC forms he has no dual citizenship, he claims to be a Nigerian.
