According to the Bale of TarkwaBay, which town is a mini ECOWAS in Nigeria, Mr. Olatunji Maxwell, “We are very happy to host this new game here in our beautiful TarkwaBay town and beach.
This is the second year running that we have had this huge crowd for this Rugby event. We will also want Nigeria Rugby Federation to come and train our youths in this new and very interesting game”
According to the Technical Director of the Rugby Federation Mr Ntiense Williams, who represented the Rugby President Mr Kelechi Mbagwu who was absent, “Nigeria Rugby Football Federation is proud of this initiative which is in its 5th year running by a private entity. Hopefully this will be a national program by next year given the enthusiasm from the Rugby family in Lagos. It is a very good outing for the family with fun around the beach especially after a heavy and busy rugby season”.
Ten teams participated in the annual SandeeBeach Rugby Tournament namely; Cowrie RFC, Racing RFC, Police RFC, Eco 2 RFC, Gosar RFC, Gaziele Academy, Lagos RFC, Panthas RFC, Lagosian All Black and A TarkwaBay rugby teams.
