Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has presented three ventilators, three vehicles, N20 million cash and other support materials to Lagos State government in support of the fight against Coronavirus pandemic.
The Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, who led a team of the agency’s management to make the presentation, also announced that the agency would provide fast Intervention boat support to coastal areas in Lagos if the need arises.
Jamoh, who described Lagos as a good landlord to NIMASA, assured Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu that the NIMASA would continue to support the state and other areas where it operates including the six geopolitical zones in eradicating the virus.
He commended the governor for his commitment to the health and wellbeing of Lagos residents which he displayed through regular follow up and briefing of the people on efforts and successes recorded in addressing the pandemic.
Jamoh also announced that the items given to Lagos include handgloves, sanitisers and fire brigade volunteer services to support the state.
The N20 million given to Lagos State is part of the N50 million earlier announced as Covid-19 prevention support from the agency, while N30 million goes to the Federal Government.
Receiving the items on behalf of Lagos State, the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr Rabiu Olowo, commended the gesture of NIMASA and assured of continued partnership with the agency.
