The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has donated two motorised modular fumigators to the Kwara State government to aid the battle against spread of coronavirus in the state
The monarch who was represented during the donation that took place in Ilorin, the state capital, by Oba Muraina Adedinu Asoya, the of Isoya kingdom, commended efforts of th state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in the fight against the pandemic.
He said that the donation of the modular fumigators was to complement the state government’s quick response to the COVID-19
The traditional ruler advised that it was time people took the pandemic seriously, saying that disinfection of offices, schools and the environment was key to halting the spread of the virus.
He promised to continue to contribute his quota towards the development of the country and charged individuals to join hands with the government in the fight against the COVID-19.
Earlier, Prof Olapeju Esimai, Head of Public Health Department, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife and Chairman of Ooni of Ife Covid 19 Response Team explained that the locally-made fumigators are environmentally-friendly and efficient in fighting Coronavirus and similar viruses in the community.
The state Deputy Governor and chairman of the Technical Committee on COVID-19, Kayode Alabi who received the donation on behalf of the Governor thanked the monarch for the gesture.
Alabi described the traditional ruler as an illustrious, intelligent and selfless leader who commits his personal resources to developmentvof humanity
He commended all the individuals and corporate organisations that are aiding the state government in the fight against the pandemic saying their support had been very impactful.
